Rolando walnut blasting the carbon buildup off the intake valves of a 2017 Ford Focus RS.

What essentially is walnut blasting; also known as carbon blasting? It is a process we use for many makes and models that utilize gas direct injection, which sprays the fuel directly into the cylinder. Because the fuel is sprayed and does not wash over the intake valve, the intake valve eventually gets covered in hard carbon deposits. Walnut blasting is a process designed to blast off those carbon deposits that form in your vehicle’s engine. These hard deposits that build up on the intake valve can negatively affect your car’s performance; reducing your fuel efficiency and causing your engine to run slower or sluggish.
